Undiagnosed Herpes

Is it possible to have had herpes for 8 years and not have been diagnosed? I have had 3 kids during that time. Wouldn't I have had tests done when I was pregnant? If I do have an undiagnosed case of herpes, is it possible that I have passed it on to my kids while giving birth?

they typically do not test for herpes when pregnant. You'd have to check with your provider to see if you were tested or not.

Your children would've been obviously ill soon after birth if you had transmitted herpes to them during birth.

I'd like to add that my kids all have pretty severe eczema. Is there any possible connection? Everything that I have read about transmitting herpes to a baby says that it is pretty rare, and it would have devastating effects...
