Unprotected Sex With Someome Who Has Herpes

Can anyone tell me the risk or probability of transmitting HSV-2 to an uninfecccted partner without the use of a condom? My girlfriend and I have sex regularly and she has not contracted HSV-2 and I want to keep it that way. I check everyday for any sign of an outbreak and listen to my body for prodrome symptoms, but have yet to notice anything out of the ordinary since finding out I had HSV-2. I take suppressive therapy twice a day acyclovir at 800mg and we always use condoms except for today! We were caught up in the moment and she inserted myself into her. We continued for a few moments and stopped ourselves and I quickly put on a condom and continued where we left off. Again I take suprresive therapy already and I'm sure to watch my body for the slightest sign of any indication that an outbreak is coming. I've only had one outbreak since finding out I had HSV-2 and that was over 3 months after exposure. If anyone can help with my question it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

It wasn't a big risk at all. This one time very brief exposure while you were not having an outbreak and on antivirals was a miniscule risk. So small I wouldn't be concerned. You normally always use protection so the combo of condoms and antivirals is very effective.

I don't know why but, I only saw a small portion of your post. I believe even taking antiviral and not using protection is still a big risk. Good luck..Stay healthy!

Normally we use protection and I'm sure to take my antivirals daily. It just kind of happened today that I didn't put one on before intercourse and we got lost in the moment for a brief time and stopped before continuing any further. We really are good at using condoms, but today was the first time we had sex briefly without one. I know I should've stopped myself before it got to that point because I want to protect her from any form of transmission. Shame on me I know I just hope nothing was transmitable at that time.

Why risk it? It is so contagious. If you keep don't use protection you really are asking for it. You can have it and not know. It just takes that one thing to trigger it. For me and my fever blisters...it sun or a big emtional upset...crying...to much D3 vitamin.

Hsv is NOT  a super contagious virus. In his case with this one time very brief exposure while on antivirals, this is not a big risk at all.

The odds are slim to none. The contact was very brief and with antivirals it really cuts down on the viral shedding. I wouldn't be overly concerned. Her chances are lower than the 1 in a 1000 estimate due to the antivirals.

Thanks for the info I was really fearful of the chances, but the odds seem to be in our favor thanks again!
