I think they moved your post from its original location to this forum? This is for herpes, not hiv. You need to address any hiv issues in the hiv forum.

Dear Grace,
I was not talking about herpes, but about HIV, and the risks of recieving it from performing and recieving oral sex on her, because of my gum disease and the fact theat I found out that she was involved in heavy drug use and needles. She went into a rehab and was blood-tested for everything and came back negative for everything but the herpes. I have been told that my risks of contracting it are extremely slim to nothing by the members here, but I am definitely getting tested in March obviously. I am over being sick except for mild congestion and my left ear being clogged. If you have any extra info of this, please dont hesitate to explain, as I am looking for any info I can get. Thank you very much for responding, and I hope to hear from you soon.
You are worrying way too much about this.
Your symptoms you describe are a viral upper respiratory illness. Look around you - most folks you know are coughing and blowing their noses too right now.
This is not herpes and if you had contracted it - you would've had symptoms by the time you posted.

Hey, just wanted to update on all thats been happening since last time. Well, I have a severe swollen throat and sinus pressure, not to mention my left ear is clogged up and I cant hear out of it at all. No more fevers or muscle aches, but the waiting is the most nerve-wracking there is to deal with. I figured noone wrote me back because of the holidays, but I really would like to know what the risks are for people with gum disease, and I don't know how much this changes the situation, but I was provided uprotected oral for her as well. I visited my doctor and he just told me that this lloks like just a bacterial infection and perscribed me some cough ssyrup with codine and antibiotic tablets. I am trying to keep my mind clear but its not easy. Seriously, if you guys wouldnt mind giving some info on the gums disease and if my recieving uprotected oral changes anything drastically. Please and thank you so very much!
Wow, thank you for all your help and support. Like I said before I know that this is not a complete diagnosis, and I plan to get tested soon. I knew that oral was low-risk, even though still a risk. There still is one thing that stays in my mind.....arent bleeding gums or gum disease (same thing) considered an open wound? I was told this by several STD doctors that I have already talked to personally, and believe me, I am NOT trying to discredit or spit on your info, but this confuses me a little. Can you elaborate please? Thank you!
Well okay, in theory it might be possible. Anyhow the doctors here state that it's zero risk as there has never been a documented case.
But anyway, chlamydia would be easy to treat. So nothing to worry about.
There is NO doubt that Chlamydia can be transmitted through cunnilingus.
I will post the link to information from UK Health Protection Agency.

Best regards.
You definitely do NOT need to check for chlamydia as this doesn't get transmitted through cunnilingus.
Herpes would be the biggest risk which doesn't mean that it's high risk. In fact it's low, just not as low as gonorrhea or HPV for example.
Anyway, regarding your HIV concern probably most doctors would tell you that from risk assessment side you don't need to test as you would be the first known case in the history of HIV. And also in theory, a chance of 1 to 10 Million is not really worth worrying about...
But as anxious people tend to be very irrational, a test in 12 weeks might make sense - just to prove yourself what statistics are already telling you: that you are negative!
Hello
There would be minimal risk of HIV, if any at all, if she was HIV positive.
You definitely need screening for all STDs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, herpes etc.
You can get a single conclusive HIV-1/2 antibodies test 12 weeks post exposure and it will eliminate your worries, rather than to keep thinking about it.
Thanks.
I know exactly your situation. I also went down on a woman with a STD, later got a sore throat for even 5 weeks and just tested conclusively negative.
Three doctors and knowledgeable members like Teak and others, assured me that there's no reason to worry about HIV. I was so anxious that I didn't want to believe. But the negative test proved them right.
You might have caught HSV like I got infected with oral gonorrhea. And although even this is highly unlikely (my doctor estimated a risk of 1:500), it's still much much more likely than getting infected with HIV in such a situation. The chance she is HIV+ is 1:1000, the transmission risk is 1:10000... That makes a risk of 1:10.000.000. And this is even a very very conservative "cover your a..." estimation. In fact nobody ever got infected through going down on a woman.
So, move on and enjoy Christmas. The practically no risk situation is not worth worrying about.
You do not get HIV from oral sex on a woman.
