Worried and confused

Hello I hope this will help, but I recently broke up with a guy I had been seeing for about a year. Its been almost three months and I have not been with anyone since. I stopped using protection early on in the relatioship, but not long after we broke up , I started noticing a strong itch down there and I had never had that before. So I thought it was a yeast infection and it didn't help too much. Btw I had gone to go and get my early checkup in December of last year and took stds tests and all came back negative. I went back to the doctor in Sept. (Broke up in July) told her i was doing some research and that is a symptom of genital herpes. She didn't take a test and did check me down there and found nothing. I haven't had any lesions or blisters. But still gave me medication for it. I had taken it as I should have and helped a little but still noticed the itching. So I went to get a second opinion and he told me to stop taking the medicine and tested for both hs1 and 2. I have had maybe two or three cold blisters but years ago. Just saw him last week and he told me that the tiders were just enough to reach a positive. He said that they didn't seperate them. So I took another one for just the 2 to test the antibodies. He gave me an antifungal medicine that has reduced the itching to like 95 % I'd say, but is still kind of there. Can anyone help me out with this? They said three to four days and I took the test on Wednesday of this past week. Like I've said I have had no bo of anything as I check myself daily, but this has really put a lot of stress on me. I feel I have gotten anxiety and have been depressed at times. I have not spoken to him since we broke up and feel I can't move on from it. Please help

I agree the best determination is a swab test of an active lesion that is properly typed. The fact that you've never had a lesion doesn't rule out herpes, but it clearly means the chances are lowered.

As you may have HSV1 based on oral cold sores years ago, then combined IgG tests and all IgM tests are next to useless in diagnosing you.

The only blood test result that may indicate a genital herpes infection is hence a strong positive for IgG antibodies type specific for HSV2. It must be this particular test and no other.

I am not understanding the reply too much. When he gave me the results, he said that they didn't seperate the tests to check which one would come out positive so that is why I took the test for the type 2 alone now. He didn't really tell me which one came out postive persay, but told me that genital herpes is more of a positive diagnosis when you have a bo and they test tge lesions and blisters.

I had gotten a positive result for the first time I took them when it was both. I haven't gotten the results for the recent one yet. I'm thinking by Monday or Tuesday.

I agree with Life, the language being used by your doctors is not modern and misdiagnosis hence very possible. Let's us know the testing thus far and we will help you take more control.
