Very worried hsv- Opinions please!

First off, thank you very much for providing this service to nervous people like myself.
About 9 weeks ago I received risky protected oral sex and mutual masturbation from someone which I know is very low risk.  However, I was under the influence of alcohol so I may not have been super careful (touch eyes, face or penis?).  Every since then I have been EXTREMELY nervous about my symptoms and possibly contracting herpes.  After maybe less than a week from exposure, I started to feel sick; very warm, chills, nausea, loss of appetite.  I also started to feel a little irritation on the head of my penis.  I couldn't see anything really explicit except for some redness.  No pain from urinating but irritation feeling when it rubbed against my clothes.  From what I remember, eventually the symptoms subsided.
About two weeks ago, I started to get nervous again because I felt sick; nausea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, muscle (back/neck) aches, intermittently aching left groin, a little sweating at night, frequent urination (I was drinking a lot of water) but NO pain with urination.  I also maybe had some clear discharge but it was when I woke up one morning (maybe one time a tiny bit during the day: couldn't tell).  The redness on my penis head came back and again only really felt irritated when I walked around.  I also noticed some redness/irritation near my urethra but again, it does not hurt to urinate.  One day, the feeling and redness was very noticeable for me.  Again, only when my clothes rubbed against it, not to my hand touching it.  I made sure to get a swab, urine, and blood test at 7.5 weeks from possible exposure.  I am still waiting on my Herpes 2 test.
I went to my doctor and showed him.  He said it looked like irritation to him and I shouldn't be worried.  He felt my groin and said there was no lymph node enlargement.  He even said that if my results from the test are negative, he thinks I can take them as almost definitive enough though definitive results do not come until 12-16 weeks. I know that my symptoms could be anxiety but I just don't know with the timing and such.
I have calmed down a bit, but also the symptoms are subsiding including the redness/tiny bumps. The penis head also looks a little scaly but it is not flaking off.  Still experiencing a little tight neck, very intermittently slight groin pain, and very very slight back pain.
I also have what may look like a cold sore on my mouth in the corner of my lips.  It looks like cracked skin (have had this before) but I am assuming it is a cold sore.
My questions are: -Should I be this worried?  I've had all the symptoms and I think the timing, but my doctor says it looks like irritation.  -Do you agree that based on my exposures and symptoms that I can take this test as pretty definitive if it is negative?  Can I have intercourse without being nervous?
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Thanks Grace!  I actually just got my tests back and they were negative.  Even though they were at 7.5 weeks and based on my symptoms and their timings, you (as well as my doctor) think that I am ok???

don't confuse the guilt of having a different partner with risk. really, if the condom was on the penis, that was protection enough for oral sex. not too much you can get wrong with that part for oral :)

Thanks so much Grace.  That literally put a smile on my face.

My only concern is the fact that I was under the influence so I am not sure if the protection was used correctly.  This, coupled with the fact that my symptoms and everything have had perfect HSV timings and characteristics.  Today, the redness has subsided and the bump (only thing that looked possibly open) started to disappear.  This possibly open bump is right at the edge of my urethra but it does not hurt when I urinate.  However, my neck nodes still feel stiff and maybe swollen.

Do you still think that this test should be conclusive then at 7.5 weeks?  If it is negative, I do not need to change my habits or abstain from anything?

Thanks again so much!

protected oral sex is NO risk for herpes.

mutual masturbation also isn't a risk for herpes.

you've wasted your money on any std testing you've had done from this encounter :(

you've been seen and your provider says this looks like irritation.  your symptoms line up with that also. leave your hands off the lil guy - only look at him and touch him to aim while urinating and give him some time to recover. you also can try something like powdering your genital area with a corn starch based powder before getting dressed to cut down on irritation too.
