Herpes result

I went for a STD test which all were non-reactive except for the HSV tests.

The HSV I IgG test came out as 1.42
While the HSV II IgG test came out as 1.94

There aren't any definitive answers from the doctors since I was scheduled for a consultation a week from now.
I was wondering what these answers mean?

I would ask you wait for Grace.  She is trained in reading tests and can give you a proper answer.

This might be a useful help. The test was done approximately, 4-5 months after my last intercourse.

During which I did have anal sex with my partner. I noticed skin tags growing in my anus which they were removed. These tags were not itchy, painful. Some of them in the inner part were more like hemorrhoids which i suspect I acquired due to the injury i sustained during my last encounter.

your hsv2 igg is a low positive. it runs the risk of being a false positive so more testing is needed.

to be honest, I have no idea what sorts of confirmatory testing is available in your country to deal with the false positive issue. if your provider doesn't have any answers for you, consult with a herpes support group in your country where hopefully someone there is like me and has taken the time to be properly educated on the herpes blood tests and how to interpret them.

wish I could help more but since you are outside of the US, my knowledge of your options is limited.

I went for a consult from the doctor in charge of the day in diagnostic centre.

The only question from him was him asking the purpose of me having these tests and also, if i exhibited any symptoms.

He was unable to give me any referrals for herpes so not sure what to do.

Thanks for your input however grace

most providers aren't aware of the false positive issues or how to deal with them :(

look online for a support group specific to your area. odds are they'll know more and can help you more than the provider you talked to.

Well, I've done my search online and so far, there seem to not be a support group to my area.

There were some discussions but all those discussions seemed to be wired with extreme misinformation and paranoia. And it's frustrating to filter the hysteria of the discussions.

So, if I may ask again for your help grace again.

To confirm the HSV II test, would it be wise for me to do another herpes test at another diagnostic lab instead?

And from what the Dr's reaction earlier, he was probably even more clueless than I was (which was disappointing I might add). So, what do you suggest for me to proceed from here should I test positive for HSV II.

And if I may, what are the ramifications to my lifestyle being infected with HSV I or HSV II,
or both? And the generic treatment plans that the doctors may offer later.

Thanks very much

you can try just repeating the test you had done to see what it shows. if you can get a biokit hsv2 igg test that would be helpful. Not sure if you can get a western blot or not there for herpes.

perhaps a search for herpes research studies done in your country would yield some practitioners to consult with too?

most folks in malaysia have hsv1 orally. it's very common. can't recall the hsv2 infection rate off the top of my head but I think it's fairly common there too. the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a terrific place to read more about oral and genital herpes.
