Worried should I get tested?

Had protected sex but unprotected oral sex. Two weeks later I develop a sore throat and allergy like symptoms; nasal congestion, itchy eyes, fatigue. A week later I get a cold sore, or at least what appears to be one.

I've always had cold sores but they've been less frequent. Could I have herpes? Nothing tingly or itchy near my penis. No lumps or bumps.

Thank you. I should just chalk the symptoms down to an old fashion cold/flu?

would've recommended testing for you if I had suspected a std from your description of symptoms.

Thanks. The things I described were not indicative of STD symptoms?

Even if I may have had a swollen lymph node on the side of my neck I think. Or the tender glands?

Last question I swear.

you already have hsv1 orally yourself so it's incredibly unlikely you'd contract hsv1 genitally from receiving oral sex.

nothing you've mentioned sounds std related. no reason for any testing from this encounter.  we recommend protected sex because it works. in the future, unless it's  a partner who's status you are sure of, protected oral sex is also in your best interest. even though the risk of a std from unprotected oral is very low, saves you worry if nothing else!

also please be patient!  Our read before posting post is located under the important announcements tab on the forum and contains information about posting on the forum - thanks!

The HIV thread confirmed to me that I did not have an HIV risk. The major one I am worried about now is genital herpes, HPV or worse Hepatitis C!

Could I have been at risk for any of these due to the unprotected oral?

Also, I had asked in the HIV thread about condom failure. If I could get a second opinion to confirm what was said; condom failure is noticeable, right? I wouldn't even be asking, I would know it failed, no?

My second fear was that the condom may have been a bit too big for me.  It covered the top but at the bottom there was the rest of the condom a bit bunched up. Did it still work? Nothing should've seeped in, right?

If your partner had any open sores around her mouth, there is a potential for transmission, although still slightly unlikely.

If you are concerned about this, visit your doctor for a test.  It is relatively quick and very simple and will put your mind at rest.

Most of your symptoms seem to be related to a cold/flu, not an STD.

One thin I can tell you with 100% sureity, you have not contracted HIV through your episode of oral sex.

Hope this helps
