just diagnosed and depressed

Hey guys I have since been diagnosed with hsv 1 and 2. My doctor says its an old infection, more than six months. The igm tests were negative but the hsv igg 1.15 and hsv igg 3.15. Could you tell me why she said it was an old infection. I also think am starting to get symptoms since I found out. I am so stressed out I cannot sleep at nights. Mmy dating life is over. My symptoms are burning during urination , tingling, vaginal pain. I also notice a small swelling at my groin, right at the bikini. Its not visible but I feel a swelling when I touch it. I have no sores. The groin swelling was after my period. Are these as a result of hsv 2, I have never notice these before

repeating the same test a week later isn't always all that helpful. Seek out a herpes WB blood test 4 months after the last time you had sex.

did your provider do a full work up on your symptoms and give you any other sort of diagnosis like uti and/or vaginitis?

I retest one week after I got the first results. I ordered one online through rapid std test and one from my doctor's office. It was the same igg and igm test. My doctor said the results where the same as before. She did a thorough exam one week ago when I did my pap test, she said I had no lesions

Dr Hook has given you the answer already - you'll need to get confirmatory testing for your low positive hsv2 igg.

if you think you have symptoms, be seen and get a proper exam. if they feel that they are herpes related, they can do a lesion culture for you.
