you should wait to get the blood test at least 3 months post encounter.

Is there a window period or amount of weeks that it takes for HSV 1&2 type specific antibodies to develop?
Hi,
Thank you that was very helpful&yes I have had chicken pox so hopefully that is the case!
Thanks again.
have you ever had chicken pox, mono, or any other such illness? these are all types of herpes viruses' and are not usually contagious but lay dormant in your body...even if you have never had symptoms to these diseases you may have been exposed to them and your body has an antibody to them...nothing to worry about. HSV1 and HSV2 are the STD ones you really need to keep at bay.
VZV---Varicella Zoster is Chickenpox/Shingles (could show up due to previous infection or inocculation)
EBV--Epstein Barr Virus...mono
CMV--Cytomegolovirus
HH--are herpes viruses 6-8
Sorry...I posted to wrong person earlier...I'm new at this. I'm not a doc but have had HSV testing myself and am relaying the info that I've learned from my doctors...Thanks,
I hope this helps.

Hi sorry where can I read the prior post? It was done about 3 or 4 months after the last sexual encounter. Does that make a difference?
this is a prior post by HHH on herpes igm testing and why it's flawed. give it a read and then ask any questions you still have :)
how long after you had last had sex did you have your blood testing done?
