if he has a history of cold sores then the likelihood that he contracted hsv1 genitally from you is too small to worry about. it's possible but not probable.
best to err on the side of caution and not perform oral sex when either of you has an active cold sore present ( they are open portals into the body for germs so ti's as much for your protection as your partners ) but odds are he didn't contract hsv1 genitally from this encounter.

no, but i asked him if he has HSV-1 and he's had cold sores, so yes(?)
&yeah i was thinking just to go if he showed signs or had symptoms.
thanks grace
has he ever been tested to know his own status?
really unless he gets obvious genital lesions within the next 3 weeks, nothing going to be seen will do.
grace
ah crap. :/
no, i performed oral on him. and we are gonna go get him checked, but what if he doesn't show symptoms? i read the incubation period for the virus is 2-10 days, so if he doesn't show signs/syptoms within that time period, would it be safe to assume he's fine?
&thank youboth
Yes, a cold sore has no stages, it is an open sore and a form of herpes. If it was on your lip, and your mouth touched his penis, you could give him herpes. It is not that likely though.
Did you preform oral sex on your boyfriend or did he preform oral sex on you? If he performed oral sex on you then you have nothing to worry about. If you performed it on him yes there is a risk that if the skin wasn't fully healed you could have transmitted HSV. Does your boyfriend know his HSV status? If he has HSV-1 then he won't get it easily in a new location.
If he has any symptoms have him get checked within 24-48 hrs after they appear for a proper work up including a lesision culture.
