herpes 2 2.17

Hi in 2/2010 I had a physical and I tested neg. for HSP2. In feb 2010 I began dating a man and we dated until 11/2011. He is the only person I have had sex with during that time ( I can't swear the same for him). We did not always use a condom.  I had a physical this month (3/2012) and the results showed HSP2 IGG test value is 2.17 . I have not had sex in a little over 5 months. I have no symptoms and he says he has not either. I have asked my ex boyfriend to get tested, but i don't trust him to tell the truth even if he does take the test. I am so mentally freaked out that if i read a symptom is" tingling" now i I tingle. He and I are w/o symptoms. I don't know what to expect next and when should real (not my mental symptoms) kick in?

one more thing worth noting (i guess). I am 42. when I was about 16 i had full blown HSP1 break out in my mouth. The inside of my mouth was covered and an oral surgeon diagnosed me with HSP1. Since then I may get a canker sore here and there. I was hoping the results my doc saw on 3/26 was HSP1, but apparently this test can identify the difference between HSP1 and HSP2.Oddly enough the test results did not show my HSP1 and I KNOW I have that.  I don't know what to think or do. does the number 2.17 indicate the strength of the virus?  What does the number mean? On the CDC site it says it could be a false positive if lower than 3.15.

Every day i keep waiting for something to pop up all the while praying nothing does.

the number itself is meaningless other than helping us see if you need additional confirmatory testing or not as well as the obvious negative or positive.

canker sores inside the mouth are not oral herpes. they aren't contagious. you can have hsv1 orally and also get canker sores. make sense?

your hsv2 igg is a low positive and needs confirmed with further testing. since it's been 5 months since you last had sex, you can seek out a herpes western blot blood test. if your provider uses quest labs , it's test #34534. it's a send out from all quest labs so if your local lab is having a hard time finding the test for you, encourage them to look harder because it is available through them to be sent to the U of washington.
