herpes or acne?

ok, yesterday i ate some greasy food at lunch (around 2 pm), and got it around my mouth. I generally have moderate acne (am 22 yr old male).

well, i saw what i thought was acne forming on the corner of my lip (and a few others around my mouth). and like i generally do, i went to pop it (this was yesterday in the pm, around 9 pm), and it didnt pop, it didnt feel like it had been around enough to 'pop' so this morning i woke up and popped it, i got some pus oozing out and it looked like what it generally does when i pop a zit before it matures.so today around 4 pm, i went into the bathroom, and wanted to pop it, and i had to squeeze hard and its like the skin came out and just pus. its now around 8 and theres a little clear liquid, and slight red area, its not very big (maybe 2/3 millimeters) i can't feel it (i notice in a lot of other herpes diagnosis they decribe pain) and i have a few other zits around the my mouth and close to my lips.

if i didnt have other zits i would say this almost certainly looks like herpes (from what ive seen online), but it seems to be progressing rather fast, and doesnt tingle or feel weird?

should i go to the doc, or am i looking at a pre-mature popped zit?

hi terri i have been suffering from this for 3 or 4 years. i tend to get acne on my upper lip. the cysts never hurt, burn, itch, or tingle. im a 20 year old male. i see that pain is associated with cold sores but these arent painful so i just assumed its not herpes. right now i have 2 big red blemishes on middle border on upper lip. they are 2 inches apart. i dont have insurance but eventually i plan to get it tested. i usually only get one blemish at a time

i went and saw an RN last night, she looked at it and made a visual diagnosis saying it didnt look like herpes, it just looked like an enflamed pustule in an unfortunate spot, she said it with a lot of confidence, especially since i said it didnt hurt (like i wouldnt know i had it unless i had a mirror) and she also said it wasn't on the lip line at all, it was just below.

i have not had an antibody test.

I'm going to answer the post here from Lexingtondrive only,

So is the question, do I have oral herpes?  I think if you've been picking at it, its going to be difficult to know that at this point.  An antibody test will give you a pretty good answer.  Have you had that done?

I could of, and packed it onto acne in the past(i started getting infrequent but bad acne when i went to college around 18 years old.) right now (as of 4:40 pm) it feels like it solidified but has a faint yellow crust. it pus'd last night and has not pus'd at all today, and im about to put my 4th application of abreva on it.

Difficult to say from your description.  Usually cold sores are not described as almost unnoticable and they often take a week or so to progress through their stages, your appears to be going much more quickly than that.  Have you ever in your life had a cold sore?

from what ive been reading it feels like a very mild coldsore, its almost unnoticeable, and seems to be progressing through the phases rather quickly. i got abreva for it this morning and think it is a coldsore, ive never had a pimple act like this.

Could it be just a bad cold sore? I have a cold sore right now and its pretty bad. My lip is swollen from it. Im like you here trying to find an answer as to how to deal with it.
