terri's book is terrific!! She really addresses the emotional side of a herpes diagnosis in it :)
just be honest with your gf. let her know you are shocked at your test results and were negative previously so she'll need to be tested to know her own status. odds are she's never been tested for herpes before herself.
Thank you Grace...
I just didn't want to believe it, so I was trying to find any out that I could. I have come to grips with it now and I am looking for support.(I bought the book:The Good News about the Bad News) It feels like I am in a nightmare and can't wake up from it, but I must admit, everyday is getting a little better. The more I read about it the more I see that it isnt really a big deal. The thing I worry about the most now is having "The Talk" with my girlfriend. Any advice on that?
the cost of the test is meaningless dear. It costs the lab less than $5 for the test itself, all other costs are them profiting from over charging.
thank you for clarifying your test results. always best to be sure so we don't assume anything.
your current partner will need tested to know their status. Once you know who has what, you can decide together what precautions to take together.
your regular provider can prescribe herpes antivirals for you if your partner ends up negative and you want to start them to reduce the risk of transmission.
keep asking questions :)

Yes... 1 said HSV1 IgG 0.12 with a small 2 on the side (squared) and the HSV2 IgG test was 12.00 H with a small 3 on the side (cubed). The STD panel had HSV1/HSV2 included (the STD panel cost $229 by the way). I took my last test the same time last year and my HSV2 was IgG .67. I don't know what to do...
According to their site, the combo test (HSV1/HSV2) costs US$ 49.00. Are you sure they have given you two different results?
Besides, double check your previous results. Sometimes the STD screening does not include herpes testing.
My hsv2 igg test alone cost $89. So I don't understand how the two cost $49. You may wanna double check.
Ok... I figured out that I did get the HerpeSelect ELISA testing and at igg 12.00 I have contracted HSV 2. Which is weird because I didn't have it around this time last year.(the last time I had a panel done) I accept it... I have to tell my current partner (who I absolutely LOVE) that I have it which kills me... Where can I get advice to tell her? What type of doctor do I need to go see to get on Valtrex or the other meds recommended. Is there any that you recommend personally?
I received both HSV 1 (IgG O.12) and HSV 2 (IgG 12.00 H) I am wondering because both test together cost $49.00 and from research the HerpeSelect test cost AT LEAST $100. I am wondering did I get a cheap test for the panel and should consider getting a better test.
so you didn't receive a hsv1 result? just 1 result for both hsv1 and hsv2?
The place they sent the lab work is called S.E.D. Medical labratories in New Mexico.
It was the STD panel and it had both the hsv1/hsv2 test together. Is there a big difference between the 2 test. (the std panel w/ hsv1/hsv2 and the ELISA?)Would it be worth me testing again or go see a doctor?
This is where had my hsv2 test done 6 weeks ago. I made sure to ask for the hsv2 igg only. It was the ELISA. I think their full STD panel runs the combo hsv1/hsv2 test. If that makes sense.
their website looks like they just do a non-type specific herpes igg blood test.
did you also receive a value for hsv1 or just 1 result for herpes?
