many things can cause lesions in the genital area, not just herpes.
yes odds are if you had been infected with hsv1 previously, your hsv1 igg would be higher.
herpes igm testing isn't accurate and we don't recommend its use in adults.
Thank you for your help. I took the results and my story to my primary care doctor as I am also suffering from all over body itching.
Based on the paperwork and results, he feels I'm probably negative.
He explained that the not detected IGM result shows that I haven't had a recent outbreak(so what were those 'pimples') and if I had been previously exposed, the IGG (which was .97) would have been much higher.
Do you agree?
it's unfortunate that your provider didn't do a lesion culture :(
at this point, all you can do is if your symptoms return, be seen promptly again and if they feel it's herpes, insist on a lesion culture and typing.
When I found out I had like 10 sores down there I couldn't go pee I couldn't sit down it didnt look like pimples though it looks like busted blisters the doctors did a swab test and there it was I thought my life was over...ive had it for 3 years haven't had an outbreak in 2 or taken medicine. But my first outbreak was getting worse and worse til I took medicine.
My husband had a blood test years ago because of cold sores and he was positive for hsv1, negative for hsv2.
They did not do a culture.
My three bumps went away quickly (4 days) completely healed. The only pain I felt was urine touching it and when I sat down sometimes as if I had a cut. One out of three didn't even leave a cut ( which is what the other two looked like). It's just going down.
did they also do a lesion culture of your symptoms?
has hubby been tested for hsv2 to know his status?
