Is on-line STD testing accurate?

I am at a crossroads. My spouce and I lost our virginities to eachother, and have been completely monogamous. So we are completely STD free, not even a cold blister (herpes).

I wish to become sexually active with another partner. Aside from the moral implications, contracting ANY type of STD would have untold consequences.

I will be discussing past sexual history with my intended partner, but at the same time, I will ask that we both get tested for piece of mind.

My question is: How reliable are on-line testing services, such as STDAlert.com? How often would they report a false negative?

the online testing services contract out with local accredited labs. you can trust the testing you have done as long as it's all done at the proper times.  any potential partner you have would have to wait at least 3 months after they had last had sex with anyone, protected or not, to properly cover their std testing bases.   also be aware that hpv is not tested for with testing so that is a base you can't cover.

For your sexual health, mental health, physical health and for all logical reasons, I would highly advise you not to cheat on your spouse... it never ends well. I mean you no disrespect and am only commenting because I wish someone has stopped me from cheating before I had done so... My life would be a lot better now if someone had.
