hi there,

I was diagnosed with herpes, cant remember which one due to state of shock. it was three years ago and i contracted it from my partner who is no longer with me. I was wondering if you can transfer genital herpes over to a sex partner without having and without ever receiving the outbreak?

If you do in fact have herpes, diagnosed thru swab culture, blood or both, then yes, you can transmit herpes to another partner without having lesions/sores present. Herpes can be sneaky. The virus is most contagious when lesions are present. The herpes virus is on the skin sometimes even without symptoms of lesions or sores. But bc of this viral shedding, you can transmit herpes to a partner without having any symptoms of an outbreak.

How were you diagnosed? Was your partner at the time confirmed to have hsv?
I would contact the Dr and get the specifics. If it was a blood test whas it an igm or igg test. Also you need to get the positive numeric value of the test. This is all very important. If you can not get this info then have a type specific igg not igm test to see whats going on.
