Your test was a type specific test if what you listed is accurate.

A hsv2 of 4.10 isn't likely to be a false positive since it's above the usual false positive range.  I would assume you have hsv2.  I know that's not what you want to hear but it's better to know you have it than it is to find out you had it after you've transmitted it to a partner.

Do you have a regular partner? Have they been tested too?

No thyroid issues will not effect a herpes igg blood test. As I said already - I can't really help you until I've seen the actual numeric results of your tests - ie hsv1 igg .98 and hsv2 igg 1.6 or whatever they are. Get a copy of your actual test results so you can post accurately the numeric results and are sure you had an igg blood test done.

Please try to relax and lets look at this from a logical stand point.  First, I really think you need to call your doctor and find out what test was performed.  Different docs, based on their knowledge of herpes, will use different test.  A lack of symptoms is not a good indicator to determine whether an infection is HSV1 or 2.  The only way to sort this out is to find out what test you had done.  Please let us know once you find out.

i was tested because i was being tested for just a regular check..  and she said might as well test for everything.. i said ok..  but i am not doing well.. all i can think of is the herpes.. i am so depressed. who will want me after this??  i had no culture though.. and the paper said it was specifically type 2 but if it knew i was type two then was it one of the accurate tests?

Call your clinic and ask for a copy of your blood test results. Bookmark this post so that you can keep adding to it ( each time you post to it it "bumps" it back up to the top again so someone sees it ) . It's helpful when folks keep posting to the same thread so folks can see the "whole" story :)

What caused you to go get tested for herpes?

You seriously need to talk to your doctor!  It bothers me that patients are treated like cattle and are not consulted.  Time for you to take charge of the situation.  Find out what test were adminstered.  I have never heard of a doctor having their patients test results mailed to them in lieu of counseling.  I am not saying it didn't happen but wow.  If you received an IgM test for recent infection then disreagrd the results.  IgM is worthless for adults.  If you had an IgG then you probably have herpes.  Ask the doc if it was type specific as some older test are prone to cross reaction which means that you could have one or the other (HSV1 or 2).  If you had a culture you can probably assume the result was accurate.  Talk to your doc and get some answers.  Let us know how it went or ask us some more questions.  Hope you are ok.
