Ppl go years without even knowing they have hsv... And if you don't have an outbreak doctors won't test for it unless u request it. I'm pregnant and I had my first outbreak and was diagnosed a few months ago and I had no idea and I'm married!

What do you mean by false positive?

I just don't get it Ive never had a cold sore a rash on no part of my body how could I have missed this? I was told you have a breakout at some point why have I never had one? hsv1 is cold sores right? I dont have one?? hsv2 is in the genitals right? I dont have one there either?? im so confused!!!!

you are hsv1 and hsv2 positive. Your results are well over the typical false positive cut off rate so odds are you really do have both and we really don't recommend any further testing to confirm your status.

Nothing odd at all about your results either.

You most likely were never tested for herpes before, not even with your pregnancies.  You can call and ask but it's not likely that herpes was part of the testing you had done a year ago.

your partner also needs tested to know what their status is too.

the herpes handbook is a free online resource that I highly recommend you read. the patient counseling video on the same site is also terrific to watch.  Just google it and it comes up right away.

keep asking questions!

It seems odd that your IgG values for HSV-1 & 2 were both 5.00 exactly?  Is there a greater than or less than sign before that number?
