hsv2 in the mouth

i have been tested positive for hsv2 and i believe it to be in my mouth.   2 family doctors and the person i spoke with at the disease center in the hospital did not answer my questions adequately.  i would like to speak with someone who would have more understanding of the type specific questions i would be asking.  i would also like to participate in studies on the subject but do not know where to look.  i live in the buffalo-rochester area.  thanks.

no it doesn't make a difference. as I said, that particular test has a very high false positive rate from what has been posted on the boards. almost everyone I've had repeat it comes back negative on other testing.

are you in the US? If so, I recommend repeating your herpes test with a different test. the one you had done is one that seems to have a very high false positive rate and we've been recommending everyone repeat it with different testing.

has your partner been tested?

usually oral hsv2 doesn't reoccur. many other infections can also cause symptoms like that too so further investigation is helpful.

my test results read like this
HSV-2 IGG      162AB       <100AU/mL

120 AU/mL     Positive   presumptive for the presence of HSV-2 IgG antibodies.

i found out in feb of 2010.  about two weeks after i went through alot of stress with my partner which i think helped bring on what i believe was my first outbreak.  my lips spilt open with soars in several spots and were swolen in spots.  my gums were very sensitive to the point that it was painful to eat a sandwich.  this lasted for about 4 days till took valciclavair.   i have not had any symtoms in the genital area.  i should of had my lips swabed and tested at the time but my doctor at the time was not on the ball. i had a small soar show up again on my mouth a month or two later.  i then started taking acyclovair daily and have not had anything surface since,

www.clinicaltrials.gove has a full listing of current herpes research going on. you can check to see if any is in your area.

do you know what your actual hsv2 igg results were? ie hsv2 igg 5.4 or whatever they were?

why do you feel it must be oral hsv2?
