igg test results

Hello, i am 22 year old male      I have had 2 cold sores around my lips that i could rember ever. 3 years ago i was tested positive for type 1  but negative for type 2 via the igg blood test herpes select. I had a cold in november 2009 and went away but i had a dry cough for like 2 months that went away with anitbiotics. but just to be safe the dry cough was not hiv symptoms i confimed it with the Proviral HIV DNA by PCR which is detects hiv for any contact 28 days and before. I havent been sexualy active in about a year except for reciving oral froma female in like october 2009  and didnt have any outbreaks whatsoever in the genitals. i did once have a pimple on my penis that went away in under 2 days and came to find out that penis pimples are common and that it wasnt type 2 herpes becuase it was a non bothersome pimple that didnt bother and went away on its own.. that pimple was likea month ago..All results were negative a few weeks ago in Jan 2010 except for herepes.. i knew i was type 1 positive from the first test and from having cold sores.. now i am type one positive at an igg result greater than 5.0 and my type 2 is positive at an igg result of 1.26..

finding this site and reading some forums i am finding out thatin my case the type 2 igg positive can be from a type 1 infection.. i understand people can have it and not have symtoms but is here any chance that my low reading of igg type 2 is from having type 1.. please inform me of what is  possible for me as now i am finding more and more false positve stories with similar readings like mine

igg type 1  greater than 5
igg type 2  1.26

I tested about 1 month ago. and it was realy just becuase i was paranoid of a dry cough being a symptom of hiv. type 2 was realy a shock for me as not having symtoms and only recieving oral from a girl and that was my only contact in a long time..

Getting another blood test like the biokit or the herpes WB would be a good way to see if your positive is a false positive or not.

also if biokit is a rapid igg blood test  it may read ositive also??? how can i test and find out if its falsely positive

thans for you advice.. when someone has a igg type for type 2 of 1.26    and ig greater than 5 for type 1. is it possible the type 2 positive is low positve/false positive?

no it won't seriously effect your health if you do have hsv2.  genital herpes is fairly easy to control for most folks who have it.  You just have to avoid sex sometimes.

the biokit is a rapid hsv2 igg blood test that some labs/clinics offer.  You can try calling the 800 number on their website to see if anyone near you uses it or just call around to clinics and ask.  

it's a low chance that you really have hsv2 but cover your bases.

Thanks Grace.. if it is realy positive is herpes type 2 going to affect my helth in other ways besides outbreaks? will it affect my plans of having a family one day? By the way thanks for this website and to all of you who put into it. What is the biokit and how can i get it? or is the western blot the one i should retest with? with the low that i have is it good chances of false positive or very minimal? thank you!

you have a low positive. it needs confirmed with further testing.

you are incredibly unlikely to contract hsv2 from receiving oral sex.
