is this acurate????? PLEASE OPINION/ ADVICE

i was tested  HSV TYPE 1   7.06    reference value 0.90    EIA
and              HSV TYPE 2   0.06     reference value 0.90   EIA

ocasionaly i do have a cold sore.

and IGM antybody non- reactive test result

is this a accurate test???

yes it is.

you already knew you had hsv1 from your cold sore history.

Your hsv2 is negative. as long as you waited at least 4 months from the last time you had sex to test it's an accurate result.  What triggered your getting tested?

well i  stopd seeing somebody a month ago i was in a relationship for 5 months,   than she contacted me she went for a  std test specificaly for s herpes test and she got the results positive it was a ELISA  TYPE specific test so she came back TYPE 2 postivie,  

That is why i went for one too  my first test was a  EIA  test came back  positive for TYPE 1  and neagative for TYPE 2,   a few days later i went for a ELISA test because my ex girlfriend said   the test i had before was not ELISA so it was not relible  it was EIA i think that is a same thing but maybe i am wrong.


So now  i dont know what to do am i positive should i wait 4 months and retested again to get a acurate answer?

She didn't get hsv2 from you if her own blood test was accurate.

I do advise repeating your blood test in 3 months just to err on the side of caution. Of course if you notice any really obvious symptoms genitally during that time, see your provider within 48 hours of their appearance for a lesion culture and typing.

my first test came out negative  and the second one positive , so why do u say she did not get it from me there is no garanty for that ,

i will get  retested in a few months

The test results you posted - only the hsv1 is +.  You were negative for hsv2 on that test.  If you have different test results that say you are hsv2+, you haven't listed them here in this post.

i dont have the second test results yet ,   is that posible because her ex had type one and he was doing oral sex on her all the time  except when he had a brake out and i did that too so maybe she got it from that  and turn into type 2  ???

that is why she is type 2 positive

who know i dont think the doctors knows

If you aren't going to give me all the details - how in the heck am I supposed to know what is going on?  You posted 1 set of test results. You didn't mention any further testing that was positive. I replied based on what you posted.

I really can't help you with the 2nd set of results until you've posted them. Your initial test was negative though so if you do have hsv2, you've recently acquired it.

Hsv1 stays hsv1 regardless of location. It can never turn into hsv2.

i got my second test results from labcorp today it should be a  ELISA TEST

well the results are TYPE 1     ,  5.35  POSITIVE WHAT I HAVE KNOW THAT I HAVE  ALREADY ,

TYPE  2    ,    <0.91                      REFERENCE VALUES  IS       NEGATIVE   1.09

SO MY EX GIRFRIEND WAS ACUSEING ME BLAME ME THAT SHE GOT HERPES FROM ME SINCE SHE WAS TESTED POSITIVE FOR TYPE 2  AFTER WE BROKE UP!

BUT NOW I HAD DONE 2 TESTS AT A DIFFERENT LAB  IT SHOWS THAT I AM NEGATIVE  FOR TYPE 2      AM I CORRECT  DO YOU  THINK THIS SECOND TEST RESULT SHOW THAT I AM NEGATIVE FOR TYPE 2 OR LOW POSITIVE.

THE OTHER THING IS IF I GOT IT FROM HER LETS SAY I DID NOT HAVE IT BEFORE   SO MAYBE I WAS INFECTED  IN THE LAST MONTH OF OUR REALTIONSHIP,  I WAS DATEING HER FOR 5 MONTHS,  THAN I NEED A FEW MONTHS TO SHOW ANTYBODYS  IN MY BLOOD   SO I AM GOING TO  TAKE A THIRD  BLOOD TEST IN LIKE 3 MONTHS JUST TO CONFERM THAT I AM OK .

Correct, if she has hsv2, she didn't get it from you.

If you want peace of mind that you didn't contract hsv2 from her, repeat your hsv2 igg blood test again, 4m onths after the last time you had sex.

Dear Grace!

Can you tell me what kinda test you have had done everywhere i read about the Western Blot is the best , but i did not have that done just a elisa,  at labcorp. and a other test at my doctor  i am in NY so it was tested at NYU medicar , my doctor saying it is  a accurate test , well it was a type specific.

i am kinda skeptical that i did not get type 2 from my ex since we have had unprotected sex after a month  but also we had protected sex too ,  like you  said i will see after  3 -4 months.

they say  that this test can give you  false negative ,
well for type 1 gave me postive both test  and that is correct  i knew i have had cold sore sometimes, so why would't be accurate for type 2

i know i am being ridicoulous seems like i wanna have type 2 but that is not the case  it is just hard to beleave i did not catch it ,  well soo far i should be glad!!

labcorp uses the captia blood test. It's a fine test to use.  no reason to doubt your hsv2 status prior to your 1st test.
