Worrying about contracting herpes, kissing, oral sex

I had a sexual relationship with a lady who I met by chance 7 weeks ago and I used a condom during the intercourse. However, I kissed her on the lips and she gave me unprotected oral sex on my penis. After 3 days of this relation, I started feeling unwell. I had fatigue, urethral problems, burning on tip of my penis, tingling around genital area, shooting pain on my penis (coming and going), difficulties when urinating. In addition, tingling, burning and shooting nerve pain on my lips, my gums, my tongue and all around my mouth. No discharge from penis, no blisters, no cold sores, just got some rashes on my inside lips and gums which was burning a little bit. In general, I feel discomfort around my mouth and my genital area. Also I have been facing pain in my thigh, knees, legs, lymph nodes groin and my bladder.
I did the blood test for all STDs and all came negative. I did antibodies test for herpes 2 days back (mean after exposure 7 weeks) it was negative.
I am too much worrying especially about oral and genital herpes because my symptoms as far as I know are herpes symptoms.
What shall I do?

What kind of blood test for herpes did you have?

Herpes can cause those symptoms, but a lot of other things can as well. Have you actually seen a doctor or just had testing done?

Have you seen any sores or blisters?

I did herpes simplex virus antibodies test (IgG / IgM).
Yes I have seen a doctor and he did all STD panel tests for me.
Did not notice any blisters and sores although I still have tingling and itching and burning g around my mouth for weeks. Also my genital area is discomfort with left thigh shooting pain.
Tingling/itching/burning can be from an allergy, especially around the mouth area, or stress/anxiety.

At 6 weeks, 70% will test positive on the IgG. However, the IgG misses 30% of hsv1 infections, but without actual sores, herpes doesn't cause this type of nerve pain.

It's not impossible that you got herpes from this encounter. It's just really unlikely that your symptoms you describe here are being caused by it.
Do I need to wait till 3 months to re-do the herpes test ? Will it be definitive?
With tingling and nerve pain I got a tiny rashes on my gum that was burning.

I am thinking maybe these are prodromal symptoms ! I have been for 7 weeks with these symptoms.

Since I was very anxious at the beginning , I took acyclovir for a duration of 7 days / 3 times per day) even without outbreaks (no blisters and sores were present).
It was prescribed to me by a Dermatologist.

Prodrome lasts for a day or two, tops. After that, it's not considered prodrome.

Yes, at 3 months, the test is definitive, though it still misses 30% of hsv1 infections.

Hsv1 doesn't cause tiny rashes on your gums. That is something else. Have you seen a dentist? A neurologist? Did the derm see the rash on your gums?

I say this a lot to people, but things are not always herpes, and you do yourself a disservice by focusing on herpes as the only possible cause.

You mean at 3 months the test is definitive for HSV2 only?
So when will it be definitive for HSV1?

I am just focusing on herpes because I see my symptoms are close to herpes symptoms.
What might be else?

Thank you
Do you live in the US or Canada? There is a test called the Western Blot that you can get that confirms your test results, whether they are negative or positive. It's not so easy to get - or not available at all - in other countries.

If your test misses hsv1, it will continue to miss it, usually. It's an issue with the test. It doesn't mean you haven't developed antibodies, just that the test isn't picking them up.

Allergies can cause these symptoms, especially the oral symptoms. There is something called burning mouth syndrome.

It could be a dental issue that is causing it.

This has some images that might help you identify the rash - https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324876

The genital symptoms could be a pinched nerve, a disc issue, an injury, or a host of other things.

It could all be anxiety.

Have you seen a dentist? A neurologist?

I've seen a lot of people in this forum who focus only on herpes and end up having something else, and suffer for a long time needlessly. I'm not saying it's not herpes, but while you wait to test, rule out other things.

Thank you for your support.
There is a urine PCR test. Is it useful? Can detect herpes.

The western blot is it a blood test ?
Does acyclovir affect the antibodies test results? Namely, if somebody is under acyclovir treatment, the blood antibodies test might give a wrong result or it does not matter?
Hello auntie Jessica,
Can you assist me with my questions  ?
I would appreciate
If you are taking acyclovir daily from the first day of exposure, it could affect the blood tests. Episodic treatment with antivirals will not. Are you taking antivirals? If you are, stop.

The urine PCR herpes test is not useful, nor would a blood PCR test be. Herpes isn't found in those fluids. The antibody tests and swabs of any sores you get are the accurate tests.

The Western Blot is a blood test that looks for antibodies, not virus.
I took acyclovir on day 7 after exposure for one week (400mg 3 times per day for one week) and then I stopped.
I did antibodies tests on day 8, day 21 and day 50 (came negative).
Now I am on day 60.
I will re-do it at 3 months.

I am worrying because I have a constant tingling, itching and shooting nerve around my mouth, jaw, nose, lips and around my genital and legs as well specially while sleeping.
I have a son and I play with him everyday at home in the pool and I give him a shower sometimes. I am scared to pass it on to him.

Unfortunately, I am living in a country where western blot is not available.
Even doctors are bot very knowledgeable about herpes.
I did the blood PCR and Urine PCR which were recommended by doctors.

Those tests will be negative, and are useless. The acyclovir you've taken won't affect the tests.

It doesn't matter if you do have genital herpes - you won't give it to your son unless you have inappropriate sexual contact with him.

Listen to me carefully on this, okay? There are millions and millions and millions of people worldwide with genital herpes. Many of them have children. Do you think they are infecting their children?

The ONLY way herpes is transmitted is by direct, unclothed skin to skin contact - this means oral to oral, oral to genital, genital to genital or genital to anal. Your son is not at risk from you IF you have it, whether you are swimming with him, giving him baths, changing his clothes, or doing whatever.

People with herpes are not walking, talking infections.

I don't know what country you are in, but Terri Warren has worked with many people in countries outside of the US to get them Western Blots, should you get to that point. You aren't there yet. You aren't at the 12 week mark.

While you wait, see your doctor and look for other causes. You will have suffered for 12 weeks if it isn't herpes. I have no idea why you are letting yourself suffer this way. What will you do if it's NOT herpes?
Thank you for the feedback and I appreciate your support.

Actually I am worrying to have contracted HSV1 because of the unprotected oral sex which I've got and kissing the lady who I've met in addition to the symptoms which appeared after 3 days of this encounter.
The most symptoms that worrying me are the nerve twitching and spasms on my lips and shooting nerve pain in my legs and joint pain as well as urethritis.

I will wait at 3months and will try to get the western blot.  I am living in Qatar and thete is only one STD clinic.
I know you are worried about hsv1.

Oh Qatar - it might be very hard to get the Western Blot there. See if you can get a BioKit test. It's not quite as accurate as the WB, but it is a different test than the IgG, and might help.

You have urethritis? That's diagnosed by looking for white blood cells in the urine.

Even if you have herpes, which I don't think you do, you have something called neuropathy. That needs to be treated separately. You could take all the Valtrex in the world and it wouldn't treat the neuropathy if it was being caused by herpes. Valtrex could help prevent future outbreaks which would help reduce future neuropathy, but it wouldn't treat the neuropathy you have. You need to see a neurologist.

Also, herpes does NOT cause joint pain. Would you please just go see a doctor and get evaluated for things other than STDs? I don't know how else to convince you to do this.
Thank you for your support.

I will ask about the BioKit test. Hope to find it.

Good luck.
I have a question about Herpetic Whitlow
I saw clusters if small blisters on the side of my big toe with red skin rash.
At first I felt pain on my tie and next day I noticed the outbreak.
It is not painful but bothering and feeling discomfort.
Since I am worrying about contracting HSV1 my question is:
How does herpetic whitlow appear and which HSV can cause this and how?
Whitlow is on the fingers.

If you have blisters, GO GET IT CULTURED. It's not a usual spot for people to get genital herpes outbreaks, but it can happen. Go today and get it cultured. The nerve path can travel down the leg and cause an outbreak there. If it's not painful, I'd doubt it is herpes, but your brain will not rest without a test.

Does herpetic Whitlow appear only through auto inoculation? And by touching a bluster or sores?
You don't have whitlow. It's very painful.

It's mostly through autoinoculation, but can be from being exposed to others. A lot of people who have it are medical professionals who put their fingers in people's mouths, like dentists.

YOU DO NOT HAVE IT. You have never once complained about painful blisters on your hands.

I have answered all of your questions. ALL OF THEM. Not once have you taken my suggestion to be evaluated for other things. Until that happens, I am afraid I am only feeding your anxiety and can't continue this.

At 7 weeks, you were negative. That is unlikely to change. See your doctor and please, see a counselor. This is taking over your life.
