Why herpes grow at one place, but not another? How to avoid transmission?

I think I have got herpes from my ex-girlfriend. I am not sure it's type I or II.

She had problems in her vagina, although I am not sure it was herpes or not.

I had unprotected sex with her, even during menstruation.

I have got herpes at my left nostril. We dated almost a year.

I saw on the internet that many people get herpes on their lips. But I don't.

So I want to know that why I got herpes at my nostril, but other places haven't got it, since I have kissed her and done everything. Will it spread to other places?

How can I avoid transmitting it to my future partners? Can they avoid being transmitting only if they do not contact my nose?

Im not sure but a visual diagnosis is not the way to confirm and taking antivirals and not having herpes would not be recommended.

Sorry, this appears to be a bit off topic.
I went to the GP today. I doubt he had enough knowledge about herpes.
He put me under the light and see my rash under his magnifier. He deduced that is Herpes simplex and prescribe several medicines.
Where can you get people to do the swabbing and examination without getting charged an arm and a leg?

Hi first of all you need to confirm your herpes status. Next time you get one in the nose have it swabbed or have a blood test now. Having inside your nostril is possible but not common thats why it should be confirmed.
