ocular herpes easy to get?

Hi sorry to be so blunt right now but a little worried. My cousin who clearly has a bad looking, fresh mouth herpes outbreak came over this morning and was hugging my 3 year old daughter , she then kissed my daughter right on her wide open right eye and pressed down firmly for a good 5 seconds! I'm freaking out could she have givin my daughter eye herpes from this event?

Not particularly, the infection would be quite painful. Of course you could see a doctor who can visually inspect the eye. On a risk basis though it is too small a risk to be considered a concern.

So my daughter woke up this morning and said her eye was crusty....should I be concerned?

This is not an ideal situation I grant you. Are you sure you are not exaggerating things a little?

Either way this would be a rare occurrence for herpes transmission to occur this way. The bulk of ocular herpes you read about occur for people with HSV1 already that ascends the eye nerve.

Monitor the situation and present for medical advice if you notice sores developing at the point of contact.
