oral sex and herpes

I got with someone who had a cold sore beginning on their lips. I stupidly did not even realise what this was.  We kissed a lot and she also gave me oral sex. I hate her for not informing me about the sore and I hate myself for not asking.

Anyway, is there any information available as to where I am most likely to contract the virus? Will it most likely be my lips, as her herpes was oral herpes and we did kiss a lot before oral. Or is it equally as likely that it entered down below and I might now have genital herpes? Thanks for your help.

you need to get the type specific herpes igg blood testing done at a private clinic and pay out of pocket. easy enough to get I understand as long as you don't ask for it at a GUM clinic.

Thanks for your response. I'm from the UK and from my research it seems really hard over here to get tested for herpes unless you have an actual sore.

At the moment I have a sore throat and I feel a bit itchy down below. Could itching alone be a symptom or would there be pain as well? I'm so worried that she has given it to me down below :-(

why not get a baseline test done now to see if you even have to worry about contracting hsv1?  most adults have it but most aren't getting obvious cold sores to know it.   If you already have hsv1, the odds of contracting it genitally are incredibly low. Only other thing to do is to wait and if you don't get any obvious genital symptoms in the next 2-20 days, odds are you didn't contract it genitally.

I have never been tested before, but I have definitely never had a cold sore before and nor has anyone in my family.

have you ever been tested for herpes before to know your status?  can you recall ever having had a cold sore before?
