Your hsv2 is negative. equivocal is negative - don't let the wording confuse you.
At this point the best thing is your new partner get tested for herpes to know their status since they are who you've been with in the last several months. if they are hsv2 negative then no need for further testing. If they are hsv2+ then I recommend starting to take precautions to protect you from hsv2 and then repeating your blood test in a few months just to err on the side of caution.
Most adults have hsv1. It's incredibly common. Knowing your current partner's hsv1 status will also help the two of you decide if you need to take any precautions at all.

Oops...I left out the last part. I have not had sex since October 14th. I had three partners in October. Each encounter was pretty close to the other (so much for reputation...lol) 1 long term partner (6yrs), 1 previous partner (but we hadn't had sex for a year), and one new partner. Only one was unprotected (long term partner); however I know that does not change anything. If I am positive the scariest thing is determining if I've passed it on to someone else. The frustrating thing is not knowing who gave it to me.
Thank you for your time.

Hi Grace....I've only been tested once for HSV2, it came back equivocal. The test performed was Herpeselect. But my HSV1 came back in the positive range.

Your hsv2 igg is still negative. When was the last time you had sex prior to being tested?
