Just found out

I just found out I have HSV-2, two days ago. I dont really feel that the background implies here since I know where andwho I got it from. What I need to know is my doctor did not say if I have oral or genital. I have never had sores on my face and have had little out breaks two that I have noticed realizing after this test that it was HSV I had and not a bad pimple. So I assume genital. My results came back .01 for HSV 1 and 3.49 for HSV 2. also is there anyway to tell how long youve had it? Do the numbers go up the longer you have it,  go down,  or stay the same?

you can't tell how long you've been infected by the numeric value of the test result. Since neither of you have had + lesion cultures to confirm infection, confirming that indeed this is all genital herpes going on is also important hence why I recommended you both follow up on proper testing.

How is a blood test not proper testing? He has had a lesion and no blood test, I have not had any til recent, and a blood test. Also I have been told by several doctors that it can take days months or years for some people to see lesions. But thank you for answering my initial question.

DOL that is the state facility in Oklahoma is who did the test. My issue is if the score is low does that mean I havent had it long? if so then I know the answer to my other question. He cheated on my alot. And I wanted to know id the score being low means I havent had it long. If that is the case then how long have I had it. My Doctor told me you cant tell that. And those answers will answer the others questions that I am going to ask him.

Well heres the deal I got it from him that is not the dispute because he is the only person that I have slept with in over a year. I just simply wanted answers to my questions. I am sorry if I come off cross I am just past the point of who gave to whom. the issue is mine score is low I guess I wanted to know does it go higher as you have it longer or stay the same?  Does that have any meaning if so? that was pretty much it. Other than that I dont really have any questions as of now. but I appreciate the responses.

he'll need to confirm his own status too with type specific herpes igg blood testing if he didn't have a lesion culture to confirm his status and to know which type he has.

your herpes testing was done too early. I'd wait another month at this point and seek out a repeat herpes igg blood test like you had this time. another option is in another month to just go and get a herpes WB blood test if you are in the US.   should you get a return of symptoms before then. be seen within 48 hours of their appearance for a lesion culture and typing.

Ye I have a regular partner, he cheated on me then admitted it. He said a visual exam confirmed it about 5 or 6 months ago. I stopped having sex march 27 that was the last day. I test for all blood bourne STD. It is low but its still a positive. I am going to re-test. I dont have alot of symptoms and have only had  two out breaks.

your hsv2 igg is still a low positive and since you haven't had any obvious symptoms genitally to culture to confirm infection, not a bad idea to follow up with additional confirmatory testing.

how long has it been since you last had sex prior to testing?

was there a particular reason why you tested or was it just a general screening?

do you have a regular partner?
