results of blood test

I am in good health and went for a standard doctors visit and asked to be tested for stds. I was given a blood test and part of the blood test was igg1, igg2, igm1, and igm2 tests. All came back negative except for igm1 positive and the titer was low so wasnt recorded or the doctor did not have the paperwork for the exact levels at the time I was given my results. After reading some posts I see there is alot of confusion with igm results. So I ask... I have no symptons so should I take these results as if I Have hsv1 or not? Is it transferable at this point if I do? Should I tell my partner now or go for a retest in a certain time and see what those results are first? Just trying to fill in some spots for answers I could not find reading other threads. thanks

your igg's are negative. no reason to think you have herpes to give it to your partner.

your partner could have hsv1 orally . totally up to the both of you if you want her to test or not.

Just for clarification if it matters, im a male and my partner is a she. no she has not been tested. I was her first in every type of sexual experience. She has never had a history of cold soars or shows any symptons, so im not sure if she still needs to be tested. but let me know if she does.

A lil recent background info to be rest assured about this. My last two sexual encounters with EX's. One in first week of September of 2010 and one in the first week of Feburary 2011. Both times I used protection for intercourse but I received oral unprotected. Right after those I began to have protected sex with my current girlfriend & giving/receiving oral unprotected. I took the blood test second week in May 2011.

Thanks

the herpes igm test is a greatly flawed test and should've never been ordered on you. you can totally disregard the results. encourage your provider to read the 2010 cdc herpes guidelines to update their knowledge about herpes testing so that they stop ordering herpes testing on their patients.

has your partner ever been tested for herpes?

if both your igg's were negative then you don't have herpes. your partner being tested allows you both to make educated decisions about what precautions to take together if he happens to have hsv1 or hsv2.
