Herpes

I have been married for 18  years and just found out I have both types 1 and 2 herpes.  Did my husband cheat?  I have never been unfaithful?  Can you get this off a toilet seat?  I have not told my husband yet and don't plan on telling him since we quit having sex years ago due to other issues..

I am in shock.  I am nearly 60 years old.

Next time I go to the doctor I'll request this  be done again.  It will only be a  couple weeks. I'll tell the doc I want to see numbers.  This is just a blood test like before, right?

Do yourself a favor and test one more time with the igG herpes select type specific where numbers appear to avoid any false positive issues. The one where anything above 1.2 is considered positive as any number below 3.5 maybe a false positive.

This totally changes my life.  If it is transferable from skin to skin, I can never kiss my grand-kids again or hold the babies..  omg...

The doctor did tests for both types.  I tested Positive on both.  There were no numbers.

These were the tests.  There were serum tests by blood.
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS 1 AB.IGG
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS 2 AB.IGG

The reason they were done is they were ruling out several conditions before I have surgery.  That's all I know.

Hi, tell us how you tested positive for hsv2 and any numbers involved to rule out a false positive.

having a herpes test result come back positive for hsv1 doesn't necessarily mean he has cheated as you can get this from a kiss as a child from somebody with a cold sore, however the hsv2 is a bit more of a grey area, you cannot contract either type from a toilet seat, you have to have direct oral-genital (hsv1) or genital-genital contact (hsv2) usually but both can be caught by skin to skin contact in some cases both types can be transmitted either way.
you should ask your husband if he knows anything about it, but hsv1 can be caught at any time even if you are not sexually active.
try not to stress I have a similar issue I know its hard! how did you find out you had it have you had a blood test?
