should i be worried still?

so i went back to the doctor about 3 months after my first diagnosis with hsv2. hsv 1 and 2 came back negative! however, i did happen to have what was supposedly a yeast infection about a week ago, but it did clear up about a day and a half after i took diflucan. i am just worried that it wasn't a yeast infection and had to do with herpes since i had a positive result in the past. should i be worried? or accept the fact that hsv 1 and 2 tests came back neg?

Look - I'm not trying to bring you down, but you have a total of 1 positive HSV test and 1 negative test.

I really do not think you should celebrate without at least one more test to confirm.  These recurring yeast infections occurring so closely to one another might be HSV and we are not being responsible here if we just pat people on the back and say they are clear after 1 negative test.

Go back and get another one done.  If your last test was taken at 3 months, it was barely at 3 months.  Terri Warren suggests waiting 4 months, especially in cases like yours where you don't know the HSV2 status of your parters AND have had a positive test.

I would bet you are negative, because I'm a glass half-full kind of dude.  But you are definitely not cleared of infection after 1 negative test.

Please test again in a couple of weeks if you are able.

correct, i was never given numbers. However my gyno did get my records from the doctor and said that it was most likely a false positive because this test came back negative and tested for long term exposure and whether i was exposed recently. all negative.

I thought I read you had a 2.19 or something on one of your early posts.

But now you're saying you don't know what the value of that 1st IgG was?  This changes my response. If you don't know for certain whether or not your score was a "low" positive then I would recommend abstaining from sex and getting retested at the 16 week mark... so give it 4 more weeks.

I know you've already waited a long time, but 16 weeks is typically considered to be conclusive where 12 weeks is a great indicator.

unfortunately my doctor didn't even give me any information on my first result. my gyno however told me she strongly believed my first test to be a false pos since this one came back negative. I'm just confused! i want to believe that i am negative but i want to know what caused a positive in the first place.

i have also had chicken pox and shingles in the past so could that have something to do with the original "positive" test result?

Because your first test was a low-positive and fell in the 'potentially-false' range, I think the odds are that it was probably truly false.

Are you taking any antivirals?
