daily suppressive therapy and avoiding sex whenever you have symptoms would make a females risk about 95-96% likely each year NOT to contract hsv2 from you.
I'd look into if herpes is the cause of your symptoms or just sensitive skin. Do you and your partner use a sex lube? You might need extra lube if your skin is that sensitive to friction.
hello Grace
your comments are helpful thank you.
You have said to also use condoms when having sex as well as suppressive medication to get the maximum protection. but what if you are trying for a baby?
what would you say the odds of passing herpes type 2 on to my partner if I am using the suppressive medication and also totally avoiding sex if and when a break out accrues?
I was diagnosed last year but since then get a break out about monthly. but there are very mild feels like just little cut and last for a few days and 9 times out of ten only accrues after I’ve had sex and there has therefore been some friction down there. other then that if no irritation is caused the little cut thing doesn't appear.
so i have gone and got some suppressive pills so that after sex it doesn't flair up and force me to wait days before sex again.
if you take daily suppressive therapy, use condoms and avoid sex anytime you have anything going on genitally, the risk to a female partner is 2-3% over the course of an entire year.

You do shedd the virus from different locations. Condoms can be used to help lower the risk of transmission but it is not by a whole lot. The supressive therapy is the best use and in addition to condoms does help reduce a lot more.
thank you. If I never had any outbreaks on penis would condoms actually help for protection against herpes. I had only outbreak in groin area.
you need to start suppressive therapy 5 days before it starts effectively suppressing the virus.

August 18 is plenty of time to get into system. Suppressive therapy is great but remember nothing is 100%. I would still use condoms to have even more protection.
