test results are negative but doc said it is

Hi, I had a 'break out' of 'herpes?' in the genital area a few months ago and freaked out obviously. I had a swab test done and a blood test done for various stds. Everything came back negative. But recently (a couple of days ago) I had a break out of the same sort. I went to my doctor and he said maybe it is a mild case ?

I'm using the Zovirax cream today prescribed by my doctor, and I will get the test results back in a couple of weeks. And for further information, I have not had any sexual activity other than kissing between the break outs.

I'm not sure what to do.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

zovirax ointment is ineffective on genital herpes recurrences.

I've done pretty sure everything possible for stds or whatever the doctors all checked off, i'm pretty sure it said negative on everything and yeah i do have shingles that is confirmed, but on the swab last time said it wasn't shingles, or herpes

shingles doesn't reoccur for you to be getting shingles repeatedly.

what testing did they do on you when you were seen this last time with symptoms?

this time they did a swab test to see if it is herpes, even though the blood test and the other swab test showed negative for everything

lesion cultures have a high false negative rate so you really can't rely on negative culture results from just 1 culture.

how long after you had last had sex did you have the igg blood test done?  do you have a regular partner and if so, have they been tested yet?

i don't know what a lesion culture is, and from the first blood and swab test to now i haven't had sexual activities with genital area to now

and it happened less than a year but more than a couple of months after having sex the first occurence

and are you saying that it probably could be herpes then :( lol.. ?

I understand i think what lesion is, but the blood works betwee the occurences came negative, and i didnt have sex or oral sex or anything other than kissing in between..
it doesn't make sense..

swab test = lesion culture

even the best blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. if you have hsv1 genitally, the lesion culture hopefully will pick up on it.

if this lesion culture is negative and you had the proper igg blood testing done a few months after sex, time for a dermatologist to find out what is going on because it's very unlikely to be herpes.
