test results for hsv 1 and 2

i am so very confused. recently i went to get a full blood work up done and the doctor called me and said i was tested positive for hsv. didnt specify what type. i have never had any signs or sympoms of herpes so this came as quite a shock to me. i am aware that it can be in your system without you knowing. i have done my homework. but was wondering if someone could tell me what these numbers mean.

herpes simplex 1 igm .8
herpes simplex 2igm  .1

over all herpes simplex igm 1.44 and its circled and says recent....

they swiped over my labia to run a culture...and it says labia to rule out hsv = negative

someone please help me understand!

they mean you are negative. there is no other significance to them. you never get a zero as a result due to the way they do the test.

the igm is a flawed test and you absolutely can not be diagnosed as having herpes from it.

how long prior to your testing had you last had sex?

are you sure this wasn't igg testing you had done?  usually we don't see combined igm testing and then specific igm testing - usually that's done with igg testing.

the herpes igm test is a flawed test and we don't recommend its use. did you have a herpes igg test done at all?
