transffering of hsv-1

i wasnt sure if i had hsv-1 but i remember my docter telling me somthin about it a while back but somehow my bf and me got to the conversation of this and i told him that i might have it, so i called my doctor to find out if i do. It turn out i do but with no symptoms. i understand that i can give it to other people through saliva, mucus, and skin. iv never had an outbreak before though ever. my bf is going to get checked to see if he has it, but i wanna know if i can give it to him through oral sex? and if his symptoms would show?

Everything you ever wanted to know about oral herpes:

Get tested if you don't know your herpes status (same for your partner). An IgG type specific blood test is what you need to ask for.

helloo, usually symptoms wont show in most people, don't feel badly about having it because about 80 % of people do! they are just too ignorant and end up making fun of other people for it. There is more of a risk in giving your boyfriend HSV-1 if you have open sores on your mouth or if they have just healed and you are having viral shedding (something you cant usually see).. However, there is still a chance that you could transfer the virus over to him, even though he probably still has hsv-1 as most people do, who knows, he could have been the one to give it to you. Oral sex is risky with this because it is possible to transfer it. Whether or not his symptoms would show will depend on his immune system and overall health, most people dont have any symptoms and thats why so many people have this virus. i would suggest asking your doctor this same question. there are meds that you can go on which decrease the chance of spreading the virus.  :) good luck~!
