Herpes Help Please, sexual contact?

6 months ago I had a sore on my mouth and didn't think much of it. Didn't know what it was. Then I had sex with my boyfriend and he kissed me and then gave me oral sex. Two days later I got really bad cuts and open sores around my vaginal area/opening. I went to the doctors and they told me it was HSV1, oral herpes. Since that happened I have never had another out break at all.

My question is, since it's oral herpes and not genital herpes can I now have and continue to have unprotected sex with my boyfriend? Will he get genital herpes from me?

I will be happy to help.
First of all you did not get genital hsv1 from him kissing you with a sore on your lip then performing oral on you. If you had oral hsv1 then you would be immune from getting it on your genitals. Your boyfriend has hsv1 orally (very common and no big deal) and was Shedding the virus at the time of the oral sex. That being said there is no reason to use protection to protect him. He will not get it on his genitals. The virus will not ping pong back and fourth. This also goes for any future partners. Hsv1 of the genitals has few outbreaks and some folks never get another one. It also sheds very little and isn't very potent when it does.
