HSV2

So I've been diagnosed with HSV2 (herpes) last week. I've been so devastated and all I do is cry and think I'll never be able to have sex again! I know I can with protection, which isn't always 100% anyways and when I'm not having a break out. I just don't understand this whole virus thing. I've been on the internet searching looking for answers. I even called my doctor's nurse and she informed me more about it, but I just don't get it at all. I've been sexually active with 2 different men in the last year off and on with both. Took a break almost a year with the one and we just barely hooked up a couple weeks ago. I was with him last year and never used protection. We got together one night and 2 days later I was experiencing some burning, like poking me stuff. Felt like I had a hair poking me. So got worst the 3rd day and I looked at it and went to the doc the next day. Came back positive for Herpes. What I don't understand is does it show up that quick after intercourse? And it only lasted 4 a total of 4 days and what I've read is a breakout lasts 7 to 8 days and I had no meds either. I guess I'm trying to find out who gave it to me! Do I go to this guy I just slept with? or the guy before cause those are the only two I've been with in a while. My nurse said it can stay dormant for years in you? So how after all these years I have sex with the guy I have before, I get it? I'm just sooo confused about all this!

I'm sorry for your situation I thought I contracted it but thanks to reading your post I feel much better 10 days ago I unknowingly slept with a woman who was infected with hsv2 and after receiving a fb msg of her confession I began going crazy. Bout 10 days later now and still no legions or anything of symptoms. I've read more so much herpes info from sites I know how frustrating it can be to find answers. If you are of young age I'd imagine there being new medication of suppressing or even killing the strain in the next decade just r from what I read. Also from speaking with the girl that did a stupid thing said she has had it for 8 years and has not infected anyone that she knows about n that she barely even gets outbreaks anymore maybe once a year

Based on your comment, I would say the guy you just slept with may have given it to you. If your immune system was low or you didn't get enough sleep or was under a lot of stress, the virus can use that to present itself quicker. Yes, it can be dormant for years but its not the usual case. You should always go with the highest odds person. You should ask him if he ever had a diagnosis or any of the signs. If he did, then he should have informed you and at least used protection.

Do understand that you have a few choices. You can remain celibate, date him and have all of the unsafe sex you two want if he admits to having it, find others in the same boat via STD dating sites or date people who don't know they have it or do not have it using condoms and getting the meds to reduce transmission. Which means having "the talk" with the non-infected. Some people never say anything and hope for the best. I don't recommend that. Email me if you need more advice.
