Came back positive with High Risk hpv

Kinda freaking out since I saw the test result. Pap smear result is still outstanding so I have barely gotten any sleep or rest since. Basically negative for 16 and 18 but positive for some other high risk hpv. Doctor said she will only discuss once pap smear result is back. I have been reading relentlessly online and it does not seem awful but I still cant believe i contracted this :(

Consider yourself informed since men cannot be tested for the high risk strains and are usually the carriers.  8 out of 10 sexually active adults have it. Every partner is a 20% risk, so if you've had 5 or more partners, the odds are 100% or more that you have it. A procedure will be performed on you and you will eventually test negative.

This is not the end of your sex life. Everyone goes thru that mindset at first. In 6-12 months from now, the pain will go away. Informing future partners is optional but if your future partner has also been sexually active, then they have it too whether they know it or not.

Get healthy. Boost your immune system. Use this as a lesson. Selectively choose future partners based on their sexual past so you don't get more strains. Ask if they ever had a genital wart or slept with anyone who also got diagnosed with it. Remain monogamous with someone for the rest of your life and be happy again.
