HPV is not transmitted by towels. And furthermore while people should use condoms when they are not in a monogamous relationship, your comment that getting HPV is high when engaging in oral sex is also incorrect. Actually, the rate of HPV transmission is very, very, very low with oral sex almost nil. And the rate of penile cancer is very, very low and cervical cancer is low in the United States(cervical cancer in the US usually only happens in women in their late 40’s that have not had a Pap in 5 years or more). Read the studies.

It appears that you are a family Dr. practicing in India where the rate of HPV is higher but some of your comments have been inappropriate on this forum. And your repeated statement at the end of every post, regarding seeing your Dr. is inappropriate. The people on this forum know that but they are seeking advice from others that have the same condition. And they would prefer to have an answer that they can understand and relate to. There are times that you don’t even answer the original question, just as you did with this post and that is not helpful.

There is no screening for men. There is very little risk for you to get HPV. The only way you would know you had HPV is if you ended up getting a genital wart but that would be unusual in the scenario you presented. I would relax and go on with your life.

Hello,
Most people with HPV do not have serious symptoms and body`s immunity resolves the infection itself without any medication. Usually HPV causes warts in pelvic area and genitals. Sometimes it can cause throat infection known as recurrent respiratory pappilomatosis or RRP. It can also cause cervical, anal, vulval, oral cancers.

There is a HPV vaccine for prevention of HPV but it is given till 26 years of age.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

there is no sign of infection whatsoever yet. is there any symptoms for HPV except the physical warts? if there is no infection, could i safely ignore going for screening? for treatment wise, is there a certain timeframe i should get medication else it will be incurable?

Hello,
Warts are tumours or growths of the skin caused by infection with Human Papillomavirus (HPV).They are contagious when in contact with the skin of an infected person. It is also possible to get warts from using towels or other objects used by an infected person.

Chances of getting the HPV virus by unprotected oral sex are very high.
