HPV and abnormal pap 3 weeks after losing virginity?

Hi there,
I lost my virginity (using condoms) last month. About 3 weeks later, I went to get a Pap smear and had Hpv and low grade cervical cell changes (the dr drew me a scale from 0-5 with 0 being normal and 5 being cancer and mine was at like 0.5). I have had the gardasil vaccination.

I'm freaked out (naturally!) and a bit scared because if these cell changes happened in only 3 weeks, what else is going to happen? I was told that anything to worry about would take a long time to happen but obviously not for me so far. The dr recommended retesting in a year.

Is it possible to have false pap results? Though I know I may be dreaming here with that thought!

Any words of wisdom? Thanks!

Yes, there are false positive HPV tests.
If you're on oral contraceptives, it MIGHT possibly cause a tiny change in the cells they capture on a PAP.
Using condoms? Gardasil vaccination? That makes the likelihood of this being "real" go WAY down.
You should follow-up nonetheless. Just stop worrying about it. Write a date on your calendar to get tested again. Even with the remote possibility that you really are HPV-positive, your chance of cancer is pretty low.

Yes, every test can be a false positive. Even blood tests. 3 weeks is too soon to get this kind of result. Get re-tested to be sure, after 2 months past exposure.
