High Risk HPV

I just got an bad pap result and was told I have a high risk HPV virus.
How long can this virus lay domant in a person?  Is that in both male and females?
How is a man tested for high risk HPV?
If most HPVs clear up on their own - why does it say there is no cure?
Since i have it would my boyfriend automatically have it?
(we have been together one year)
Also, my boyfirend and I have experimented with anal sex a few times. And we have oral sex.
Are either of us at risk of getting oral or anal cancer because I have this high risk HPV?
Sincerely,
Troubled Heart

I saw that no one answered your questions so I'll give it a try.
1) it can lay dormant for years. some women will never show (on their paps) that they have it, even if they do. Since high risk hpv doesn't give you warts, it just stays inside your body, there's no way to know when a man has it or not.
2) There isn't a test available to find out if a man has HPV. Nothing bad happen to them if they do have it (lucky ones!)
3) There's no cure cause even if it disappears, there's a possibility that it might come back again later. Mostly it depends in how healthy you are and immune system. I had a biopsy done a year and a half ago cause I got some abnormal cells. They took them out and told me to go back in 6 months to do another pap. This time I didn't have any abnormal cells and told me to make an appt for another pap in a year. So I went to get it done 3 weeks ago and today they told me the results came back and I had no abnormal cells! So see, they can "disappear" but that doesn't mean they are completely gone.
4) Most likely, yes. If you've been with him for a year and sexually active, it's almost 100% sure he has it too but he'll never know (unless, again, its the low risk/warts kind of hpv"
5) I don't know about oral cancer from HPV but for anal cancer, I think its a yes. I read somewhere that that's why Farrah Fawcett had anal cancer, cause of untreated HPV.
