Is it possible to have recurring genital warts for more than 12 years?

In 2004 I got genital warts from my girlfriend.  At the time I was in college and choose to see if they would go away on their own since I did not have health insurance.  The warts never went away and in 2006 I was able to treat them and they went away completely.  In 2011 I started to get warts in my beard area under my chin which the dermatologist believes is linked to my genital warts.  From 2011 to 2013 I was treating various warts under my chin, on my finger and a couple in the genital region.  I was wart free from 2013 to 2016.  In 2015 I began a relationship with a girl that was rather stressful and toward the end of the relationship I again began to have wart outbreaks on the genitals, under my chin and on my finger.  I am completely healthy, no bad habits, exercise regularly and have a very healthy diet.  Has anyone experienced anything like this and if so where they able to ever completely rid themselves of warts?
