Is she still transmittable??? Please advise.

by k040, Aug 16, 2008 06:27PM
My girlfriend just told me she was diagnosed with HPV a year ago.  However, she told me that she got HPV only after getting the first of three HPV vaccinations.  She told me that her doctor removed the two warts she had on her groin area and said that the doctor said the HPV was completely resolved.  I believe she also had a normal pap smear after the warts were removed.  The doctor said she didn't need to tell anyone since her condition was resolved.  This being true, is the HPV still transmittable to me via sex (will she always have it) or not since the condition has supposedly resolved?  Please help.  Thanks.

warts r low risk hpv paps will show high risk hpv that lives on cervix.if the warts were removed and no more have appeared and its been a year then according to Drs.Hook and Dr.Handsfield in the Experts forum the low risk virus should be cleared from the skin.the virus will lie dormant in the body.U need to read about Genital Warts in the Doctors forum and educate urself on this.A lot depends on if u 2 r monogomous with each other..if u have diff partners and go back to each other u increase the risk of more wart transmission plus other std's.

This is an old bump....

Most doctors agree that once warts have been gone for a period of time, such as 6 months, they are unlikely to come back, and you are not likely to transmit the virus. Exceptions exist, but considering yourself HPV free after 6 months of no symptoms is a pretty safe bet.
