Hi,
I have done a blood test recently to figure out if I have HSV.
A few months ago I had a minor outbreak. I went to the doctor and he took a simple.
The simple came out negative, but he told me that it is a normal thing. I have never had unprotected sex.
Only one of my past boyfriends had cold sores.. So I guess if there is anything.. It should be HSV-1.
What I want to know is the chance of transmitting HSV-1 while having unprotected sex but taking Valtrex (as suppressive therapy). I just got into a relationship.. and if I'm positive, I want to protect my partner from this.
I still don't know if my partner is positive for HSV-1, but what are the chances that he is going to get HSV-1 genitally if he is positive for HSV-1 orally? And what if he has negative results for HSV-1?
( Btw I am a woman, and I understand that the transmission rate of HSV from female to male is much lower)
