Oral Sex and Genital Warts... The TRUTH

I was fully clothed, both of us were, while I was performing oral sex on a male. It only last a few minutes and there was no orgasm on his part. He does have HPV and has not had a break out in 5 months or at the time, had any warts. Because I was only there for a few minutes and our actual privates never even touched, only my mouth to his penis for a minute.... do I need to be worried. Isn't oral sex about the only thing a man with HPV can count on? I am so scared and really worried and would like to have some kind of peace of mind. I just don't see how it is possible given the fact he hasn't had a breakout in 5 months and I was only there a few minutes. I just REALLY REALLY NEED STRAIGHT ANSWERS!!!

While it isn't impossible, it is unlikely that you will contract HPV in your mouth. I wouldn't me worried.

HPV is VERY common and NO oral sex is not the only thing a man with HPV can count on. According to the CDC: "At least 50% of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives."

HPV can go away and it is possible he will never have a wart again. While it is embarrassing and can be dangerous, for the most part HPV is common and not really that big of a deal if treated properly. A male (or female for that matter) may be infected with HPV and never even know it. You really have no way of knowing whether or not any male you come in contact has HPV as it is possible they may NEVER know that they do or have had.

DON'T FREAK OUT! There is nothing to be freaked out about.

"There's no cure for HPV infection. In most cases, your immune system rids your body of the virus, and warts often go away without treatment."
