Skin Tag or Wart ??

Awhile back I shaved my pubes and noticed a small growth of skin under the hair above the shaft of my penis. The growth looked like a grain of brown rice but half the length, sort of a tubular looking thing. I freaked out and immediately pulled it off. I examined it by squishing it and messing with it but it contained no liquid or other substance and appeared to be a solid mass. I suspected it was just a skin tag or something and went about my business. Months later I am shaving again and find another one on the lower left side by my scrotum but not touching my actual genitalia. It looked like the previous one and reacted the same to further tinkering. As before I pulled this thing off to. It bled for a sec then just kinda disappeared like nothing was there. Is this WARTS?? Or Skin tags?? I can't find any pics on google that really resemble the way these things looked. I am sexually active and have had unprotected sex....which will not be happening anymore after this! Ughhh lesson learned!

My best advice is that before you go to the doctor, stop pulling them off!! That's a great way to get infection. Good luck!

The warts I had were tubular in shape... Just be aware that if could be warts. The next time you notice one- GO TO THE DOCTOR! I thought it was a skin tag for ages too till I actually looked at it (its a bit more awkward for girls to see them for obvious reasons!) and then I realised it wasnt a skin tag and I went straight to doc. Unfortunately it was HPV, but its not the end of the world. IF if if it is HPV, get them treated, stay healthy (kepp that immune system in good health) and you'll be all better in a yr or two.

Till then, use a condom. It isnt 100% but its sure as hell better than no condom in terms of helping the contagious nature of the virus if you do have it.

Also I get a lot of ingrown hairs there form waxing and it could be that too... but you would notice the hair when you pull it out, soooooo Im leaning more towards you having HPV. Sorry hunny. Just keep an eye and if you suspect anything just go to doctor to be sure. Its not just you affect by this remember, your partner is affected to so be safe not sorry :-)

(From a 23 yr girl who is finally coming to terms with this stupid virus that EVERYONE has and no-one talks about except behind closed internet doors to try find a friend in the same situation.)

How are you pulling them off? Doesn't that hurt?

I would also suggest you going to the Dr and let them remove them properly and send them to the lab for testing (if they reappear again).

I doubt it's a skin tag although they can reappear. I also do not think it is an ingrown hair as the other implied, ingrown hair does not look like a skin tag. You should see a doctor, stop pulling it off and let them test it. It could be warts, but since you do not a cervix you're not in any high risks, just ugly warts but nothing detrimental to your health.

Do see your Dr and get tested for stds....I have a hunch it could be a simple ingrown hair.Shaving that area can easily lead to ingrown hairs.Do err on the side of caution and have other possibilitys checked out.
