Worried

I was recently diagnosed with hpv (the one that is precancerous) I had a normal pap smear but the virus was detected. I have already been told its a watch and wait sort of thing. She wants to repeat my pap in 6mo.
I also have a history of having had a culposcopy post children when I was 19. They did a biopsy and froze whatever was there that I was many years ago I am not 35.
1. Recently I have been having alot of pain. ( I have also been diagnosed with pcos, and have been on b/c ) Pain when I have sex, and pain without. I am really considering just asking for the biopsy now.. But with each Pap, I had 2 months apart there was no change..

She told me reduce my stress take a multi vitaming and eat healthy. That I already do.. But I am not one to sit and wait it will make me anxious. I had a scare last year with hem. cyst and had to get a ca-125 test, first time  ever knew anything about it..

ANY SUGGESTIONS...PLEASE...

Since paps are only a screening test and are not 100% accurate, if you still have an active HR-HPV infection in 6 months they should be sending you for a colposcopy, possibly including a punch biopsy and ecc (endocervical curretage). That doesn't mean you will have developed dysplasia, it's just a safeguard to see if there is anything going on that the pap may have missed. Best wishes!

A biopsy now truly is unnecessary. You don't have cervical cancer due to hpv. It is my understanding that abnormal cells indicating the possibility of cell dysplasia would have been detected during your pap. Hpv causing cell dysplasia leading to cervical cancer is a relatively slow process. It takes a number of years for hpv infection to cause cancer. You made a great choice in coming here :) Learn ALL you can about hpv so you can understand how it works. You will feel relieved once you have all the facts, I assure you. Now I am 24, but there are women here who have hpv also and are in their 30s. They know MUCH more than I do about having hpv after age 30 and I'm sure you can get great info from them and their posts here.

It's actually a wonderful thing to have caught this so soon. Your obgyn is right in suggesting you lead a healthy lifestyle. The effects of hpv totally depend on the individual's immune system. If you smoke, quit NOW. Don't drink. Exercise. Do everything you can not to stress and do make sure you get adequate amounts of rest at night.

Welcome to the hpv forum and please do read through the posts here. Likely you will find some very helpful information regarding hpv and pushing the virus into dormancy :)
