Is HPV permanently in the system once it appears?

Once HPV is diagnosed, does that mean that for the rest of my life I could potentially give it to other people?  I read that a condom does not protect you from getting an HPV - is this true? Does the vaccine that is out cover all the strains? It is advertised for you to about 26 years old. Does anyone have more information on this?

My doctor told me ok on sex after four weeks or when the bleeding stopped.  I had a couple of days with no bleeding, had sex, and the bleeding started back and continued for a couple more weeks. I think the thing with tampons is that they stay in for so long that there is an increased chance of irritation and infection.  Go with what your doctor tell you, but I suggest being very gently with sex for a while.  Thank goodness I have a man who does not want to hurt me and is willing to be gentle with things for a bit.

Don't stress about the post LEEP discharge.  I had LEEP done on March 14 and had only a tiny amount of spotting the first couple of days.  I did have a discharge that was more a brownish/mustard colored tissue looking material which is the Monsels solution that they use to help control the bleeding. On about the fourth or fifth post op day, I had an episode of coughing and after that, I did start bleeding.  The bleeding has been less than a normal period and has continued off and on until just the past couple of days.
I am sure everyone is somewhat different in their bleeding and healing, but I have had some bleeding for about seven weeks and my doctor says it is normal and on exam, he says that I am healing well. I noticed someone else mentioned to you that you should not use tampons---that was a warning given by my physician as well.  No tampons for the first couple of months following the procedure. Good luck with your healing.

It's a virus and all viruses, even the flu you had last year, remain in your system forever.

Only bacterial infections can be completely out of your system.

Actually, the wart strains clear QUICKER on average than high risk strains.  Of course, it doesn't always clear for everyone (high and low risk HPV).

My doctor's nurse told me that once you have the virus you have it it is in your body forever, however, after joining this site and reading from so many people hwo have it, i hear that if you have the leep procedure done, you go for follow ups, and a lot fo times after 2 yrs if you have good paps your chances are that you 'fought off' so to speak the virus. I mean it's there but it lies dormant...if that make ssense..I hope this is how accurately I understood it...my friend had hpv (cervical cancer causing) such as myself..and she had a baby and after she gave birth and went for pap ever since then there is no sign of HPV on her paps. I hear the ones with the warts though don't ever go away..I just had my leep procedure done today and i have my fingers crossed that everything is going to look up for me and i have the same luck my friend did.
