Not sth normal for penile cancer in v young ppl ie not expected usually...usually more common in Sr ppl. It could be just inflammation....or flat wart...etc. if there is a spread of the redness...followed by burning sensation ...during urination or at rest...could be hpv...only a possibility...usually if it is abnormal growth related to hpv...it can spread and produce burning or pain at certain point
Hpv can be quite tricky to diagnose as there are many types of hpv viruses and it may show subclinical symptoms or non obvious
Keep the board updated of any new development
Penile cancer could take decades to develop or it could never happen. Do not dwell on this future. Go see a dermatologist or an urologist. Sounds more like a yeast infection or some other infection.
Get the HPV vaccine. It won't fix what you have or remove any strains that you may have but it could prevent any strains that you may get some day.
so I went to the doctor and he told me its not std related, but really gave me absolutely no answer as to what it is. Should I just leave it and not worry about it? I fear its something that could actually be harmful.

Not sure what doctor you saw. A urologist? Give it another month.
