Give your insurance a call and ask to talk to your case manager. work with them to see what can be done to help make all of this more affordable for you. Wish I could offer a suggestion like contact such and such for help but nothing is coming to mind. many medication companies also offer assistance for meds but if you have insurance and work, typically you don't qualify :( perhaps the case manager knows of a credit card that if you qualify you get a low rate and you can put medical charges on there to pay off over time? most insurances will provide diabetes care at no cost too - ask about that too. Write a letter to president obama and your local congress person about how being the working poor is affecting your life!!
thankfully hpv tends to progress slowly. I wouldn't consider it a health risk to wait a few extra months at this point.
bad news on the coloposcopy front. ={ my doctors office called me to let me know that the deductible I will have to pay is $180. and I have to pay it up front. I contacted the low income place 50 miles away and they said the same thing. I am no longer considered low income because of the amounts I make before taxes, insurance, and garnishment. my doctor told me that it would be a bad idea to wait even till the end of July, but now it looks like I will have to wait till October or so when I can save up that much. .... I'm sorry for ranting, but thank you for listening/reading. I appreciate it.
I am overweight but my food choices were already healthy.... the only thing I've changed there is to spread the meal out that I ate throughout the entire day. and I've been regularly going for nightly walks for years. even when I went to a gym for an hour a day I had issues loosing weight.
did you first try diet and exercise to control your insulin resistance? it's hard to stick to the way we are supposed to eat but it really does work.
I avoid the ER at all costs. thankfully where I live, we have some cheaper options during daytime hours.
luckily I am not diabetic, just insulin resistant. My doctor put me on metformin, I'm only up to 250mg and supposed to work my way up but it's been making me a bit dizzy and foggy-headed. my supervisor at work asked me to quit taking it because it is affecting my work. as for the docs around here, theyvrequire full payments of the copay at the time of service. if you can't pay it then they tell you to go to the e.r. .... I try to avoid that. my wages are being garnished by the hospital due to a $3500, 2 hour visit to true e.r. because of bronchitis from a couple years ago.
I hear ya - insurance is great as long as you never have to use it :(
will your doctors bill you and let you pay copays over time?
did you talk to your provider about what medications are cheapest for your insulin resistance? are you diabetic too?
I do have insurance, but There is a $25 copay for regular doctors and $30+ for specialists. that is a lot of money for me when I'm the only one in my house working and we're just barely getting by even before co pays and monthly meds.... and unfortunately no free or low income clinics for 50 miles. whatever they decide would be best (barring anything that could interfere with fertility, that I would just refuse), will end up having to be done at the end of Sept or October. I'm sorry for complaining, I'm just feeling extremely discouraged.
continue to follow up regularly. if this persists, worth seeing the specialist.
do you have insurance?
no, no schedule yet. I'm scheduled at the end of July for another colonoscopy.
just a regular gyno. for a specialist I would have to pay more and I've been selling off my comics and other valuables as it is to cover floats and meds for my insulin resistance.
have they scheduled a repeat LEEP?
are you seeing a regular gyn or an oncologist gyn at this point?
are you also following up with an endocrinologist?
