Could it be HPV?

I've recently noticed bumps around my vaginal region that looks a lot like skin tags. I'm really worried that it may be genital warts. I understand that I should be checked out and treated if it is warts. However, what are the consequences of contracting this disease? Is it a lifelong consequence? Can I infect future partners? Have I infected partners that I've had sex with while using condoms? I made the mistake of having unprotected sex before, but other than protecting myself in the future, what other healthy habits or responsibilities should I take on?

If there is a complete clearance of the warts after 6 months, would one be able to have sex during the six months you are treating it?

Stresses can cause a recurrence after many years. Pregnancy is an example of a stressor.

as per experts, with a complete clearance of 6 months after treatment, you are under no ethical obligation to tell others...

warts are caused by Human Papilloma Virus and herpes are caused by Human simplex Virus.. these both are two different viruses and not the strains of a same virus... there is no relation between warts and herpes...

Thank you for the response...
Although I wasn't very close with my partners, I'm questioning now as to whether it's ethical to tell them that I have been infected and should be checked out. Also, someone told me that genital warts are considered herpes. Is doubt it, but I'd want to make sure....

Okay, you know what is right, the accurate diagnoses & treatment... Now, answer to your individual questions:

- The low risk strain of this virus causes non-cacerous benign warts and there are no short or long term ill affects associated with these warts even if left un treated... but, you must get rid of warts as these are contagious and can be spread to other with an active infection.

- The answer to whether if it is lifelong is that most of the experts believe, once you get rid of warts and do not get a recurrance within 6 months, you may consider yourself cured and non-contagious... whether the virus is fully eradicated from your body or goes dorment is currently a matter of conflict but after 6 months of no recurrance, you can surely consider yourself clear of infections... if a recurrance has to occur it will within 3 months of the first treatment...

- there are high chances that your sexual partners are already infected with the virus as condoms do not provide full protection and only up 70%... the major reason is that the condom does not cover the whole genital skin and this virus is transmitted through skin-to-skin contact

- A healthy immune system can really help to handle the virus and at least sending it into a dorment state so adopt a healthy life style, do excercises, eat healthy, take vitamins, drink plenty of water, eat fruits and vegitables etc etc...
